Aqua-Partners ApS was founded in 1996, initially doing design and consultancy services on marine hatcheries and hatchery technology. Mostly as subcontractor to key industrial players.

RAS technology for seawater soon became an increasing business segment, and Aqua-Partners was the first company to develop RAS design specifically designed for Seawater, overcoming the principal issues on bicarbonate accumulation, which is still causing problems in the industry in general.

There was an increasing demand to supply not just knowhow and design for new installations, but also complete RAS installations. Then in 2003 UNI-Aqua A/S was born as a sister company to supply the installations based on the concepts developed in Aqua-Partners ApS.

With the sale of UNI-Aqua to the AKVA group, now Aqua-Partners ApS is again an independent consultant operation, assisting individual companies, as well as global players developing projects for fish farming. The principal focus is still on RAS farming of marine fish species.

Aqua-Partners aim to stay small and always provide the best possible service in close contact with the client. The principal focus is now on the initial project development, assisting the clients on developing the overall scope and concept of the projects, and potentially assist the client during the complete phase from the point when the initial idea develops, and up to when a detailed design has been completed.

In addition, Aqua-Partners ApS in cooperation with a group of business partners has the ability to supply the RAS technology for the project as well, for projects where Aqua-Partners ApS has been involved in the development, should the client have a request. But otherwise, Aqua-Partners ApS is evenly happy, just to assist on developing the project concepts and designs.

The technologies developed in Aqua-partners ApS have successfully been applied in many installations all over the world for RAS production of fish in seawater, including bluefin tuna, turbot, Seriola, halibut, cod, salmon, trout and sole.

Aqua-Partners ApS is now and then also involved in the development of technologies to be sold by third party suppliers with RAS industry, the RAS2020 which was originally developed by Aqua-Partners as an example.

From previously being a technology developer and provider, Aqua-Partners Aps now first of all has the focus on the development of some selected key projects, which Aqua-Partners believe could have a broader impact on changing the global fish farming industry into a more sustainable production of fish products.

At present in 2021, Aqua-Partners ApS is involved in the development of 4 important larger projects:

1) A project at Thorsminde in Denmark, aiming for a production of 3000 ton of steelhead annually,

2) A project in Morocco, aiming at plus 20,000 ton of Seriola annually,

3) A project in Malaysia aiming at approx. 15,000 ton per year/mixed species

4) A project in Australia with Asian Seabass, for approx. 12.000 ton, which will become second to none on performance regarding environmental impact.
